Susan Francis is the Executive Director of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, which provides the linkage for thousands of low-income Marylanders to private attorneys who provide essential pro bono representation throughout the state. Susan served as MVLS’ Deputy Director for over five years where she oversaw all aspects of the MVLS’ pro bono programs. Prior to that, she served as the Foreclosure Prevention Project Manager at MVLS. Susan is a 2011 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, and prior to being an attorney, she served as a development and communications director in a variety of public interest agencies. Susan has over 25 years of non-profit experience primarily focused on poverty-related issues. She participates in many committees of the Maryland Bar Association, including the Editorial Advisory Board and as the Chair of the Delivery of Legal Services. She also is an active member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City and serves on the Daily Record Editorial Advisory Board. She is a member of the Baltimore City Council’s Commission on Aging and Retirement Education (CARE). Susan has received the Legal Excellence Award for Advancement of Advocacy for Justice from the Maryland Bar Foundation and the Judge Robert M. Bell Award from the University of Baltimore Law School.
