Closing the Gap Pro Bono Innovation Fund Program Coordinator
Melody Harkness joined the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York in the spring of 2016 to work as coordinator of the Closing the Gap Pro Bono Innovation Fund Program. She is a 2013 graduate of North Carolina State University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Legal Studies (US Law) at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. Melody previously worked at Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) for three years as an intake specialist and pro bono coordinator for LANC’s Lawyer on the Line Program. At LANC, Melody provided referrals to pro bono attorneys assisting low-income clients in consumer, housing, employment, education, and expunction matters. Outside of work, she serves on the board of directors and as vice-president for Support the Port, Inc., a nonprofit based out of Wilmington, NC. She is currently a member of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association, and Young Lawyer’s Section of the New York State Bar Association.
